Dr. D G Mukherjee

Dr. Divya Gopal Mukherjee passed out from St. Xavier's College in Calcutta before joining the MBBS course at Calcutta National Medical College under the University of Calcutta. After graduation he worked as Senior House Physician in the Department of Psychiatry in the same college. He then joined the Diploma in Psychological Medicine course at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, from where he passed out in 1988. He later completed his MD in Psychiatry in 1990, from University College of Medicine, Calcutta and Diplomate of the National Board from National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 1991.

Dr. D G Mukherjee initially joined as a Research Associate in the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and later received a fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He worked as a Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi, under the Central Health Service of the Government of India. He has presented papers in several journals. He was the recipient of the "Bhagwat Award" of the Indian Psychiatric Society for research work done by a young psychiatrist, in 1996.

Dr. Mukherjee commenced his teaching career as a Lecturer in Psychiatry at Nilratan Sircar Medical College, Calcutta, and later served as Assistant Professor at North Bengal Medical College (Darjeeling) and Associate Professor at the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Calcutta. Presently, he is Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, RG Kar Medical College, Calcutta, since 2010.
